The ASI Show in San Diego Delivers Again

Print PDF
TREVOSE, PA - April 4, 2012 - The ASI Show strikes gold in San Diego with another successful event, attracting just over 2,000 distributor attendees and 335 suppliers.

In addition to an energized show floor and engaging education sessions, ASI San Diego featured an inspiring keynote by actor and activist Michael J. Fox. During this standing-room-only event that attracted nearly 500 attendees, Michael shared remarkable personal lessons from his life with Parkinson's disease.

Throughout the show, which took place Monday, April 2, through Wednesday, April 4, at the San Diego Convention Center, suppliers and distributors enjoyed quality time together on the show floor and during dozens of networking opportunities.

"We're so excited to be here in San Diego," said Rick Greene from HALO Branded Solutions, asi/356000. "This is just a great show. In the first four rows I walked, I found two important apparel resources that I need for a huge project. Having access to the show floor is amazing."

"We always look forward to The ASI Shows because they give us a chance to interact with distributors and discuss specific projects," said Glenn Hersh from Admints and Zagabor, asi/31516. "The ASI Show in San Diego is a great forum to enhance our customer relationships with clients and prospects. Our booth has been full of good, quality distributors."

On the heels of another great event for 2012, The ASI Show has announced a change in venue for next year. After many requests from ASI suppliers and distributors to find a more convenient and cost-effective venue, ASI's West Coast event will be moved to the Long Beach Convention Center in 2013 and beyond. Featuring ASI education, exhibits and a full roster of networking and special events, ASI Long Beach will open on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

"We are thrilled that our attendees will be able to save $500 per person annually by relocating our event to Long Beach," said Lorenz Hassenstein, vice president and general manager of The ASI Show. "Hotel rooms on average cost $50 less per night, and flights into Long Beach are 50% cheaper as compared with traveling to San Diego."

"It has been an exciting week," added Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. "The San Diego show has been full of energy with outstanding supplier and distributor participation. This enthusiasm grew even stronger with the announcement of our relocation. Of the 4,313 distributors we serve on the West Coast, 61% are located in the greater Los Angeles area. Central to three airports, the Long Beach Convention Center is easily accessible from all major thoroughfares."

"The strategic timing of next year's event puts ASI Long Beach months away from other industry events taking place in the greater Los Angeles area," said Karen DiTomasso, vice president of sales for The ASI Show. "With a nearly full floor plan already in place, ASI Long Beach 2013 is expected to sell out before summer."

The remaining two 2012 ASI Shows are ASI New York (May 8-10) and ASI Chicago (July 17-19). ASI distributor and decorator members can register for free at www.asishow.com. ISA INTERNATIONAL SIGN EXPO 2012 WRAPS UP IN ORLANDO

Print PDF
ALEXANDRIA, VA – March 24, 2012_ ISA International Sign Expo 2012 has ended and attendees are leaving Orlando with new business connections, ideas and equipment. Just a few days ago, International Sign Expo returned to Florida to an exhibit floor that was 10 percent larger than its last time in Orlando two years ago. The show floor included 540 exhibitors, 87 of whom were making their Expo debut.

"The show floor proved that ISA International Sign Expo is the premier event in the on-premise sign industry," said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. "We heard amazing feedback from exhibitors about the activities and interests of attendees—including one manufacturer who sold 11 pieces of major equipment by the end of the show's first day. It is clear that our industry is getting back to work, purchasing new equipment and investigating new business opportunities."

In addition to the new exhibitors, ISA offered several improvements to the Expo floor: a daily happy hour, designed for networking; a mobile application to help attendees navigate the show floor to ensure that they were able to visit every exhibitor they wanted; and text voting for the Best New Products and Best Green Products.

Other highlights of the show, which in 2011 was named the Number 5 on Expo Magazine's list of Top 25 Fast-Growth Shows in 2011:

* Noel Yarger, chairman of the board for North American Signs in North Bend, Ind., was presented the Kirk L. Brimley Award for Distinguished Service. Yarger was cited for his work in creating the Signage Foundation for Communication Excellence, a precursor to the Signage Foundation Inc. Yarger is a former board member of ISA and also served as president of the World Sign Association.

* Companies were able to showcase their latest advances in the Innovation Station on the Expo floor.

* The daily Dash for Cash added to the excitement on the Expo floor. Five names were called at a set time and the first to arrive at the ISA booth was awarded $1,000.

* Outstanding networking opportunities, including a new Basketball Lounge, where attendees could check the scores of the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament and challenge fellow attendees to a quick pick-up game.

* Some 75 educational courses were offered and registration was up 10 percent over the previous year. Attendees were able to earn professional development units as part of the International Sign Academy's Quality Training Accomplishment Program. Companies and individuals who achieve certain levels of achievement in the program will receive recognition at the end of the year.

"We brought many new things to the Expo floor this year—not the least of which were many first-time exhibitors," said Anderson. "This provided our attendees a unique opportunity to see the latest products in our industry, and to make connections with new suppliers and distributors. It only enhanced the excitement on the expo floor. "

ISA International Sign Expo 2013 is set for April 3-6 in Las Vegas.

INTERNATIONAL SIGN EXPO 2012 SET TO EXCEED 2011'S STRONG SHOWING

Print PDF
ALEXANDRIA, VA – September 20, 2011 – Returning to Orlando in 2012, ISA’s International Sign Expo 2012 will continue to build upon its reputation as the must-attend event in the sign and graphics industry. Already, 85 percent of the exhibit hall space is sold out for the premier trade show in the on-premise sign industry, which is March 21-24, 2012 in Orlando, Fla.

International Sign Expo 2011, which was held in May in Las Vegas, drew more than 19,000 attendees, marking the strongest event in the sign and visual communications industry in the past five years. Attendees were able to visit 1,900 exhibit booths showcasing the latest trends and technologies.

“Our 2011 exhibit hall floor was teeming with new products and, based on the exhibitors who have already committed to 2012, we’re certainly expecting that to increase,” said Lori Anderson, ISA’s president and CEO. “I am certain that International Sign Expo 2012 will be the place to network with the industry’s top professionals, see the latest technologies and conduct business.”

As the premier event in the sign, digital printing and communications industry, International Sign Expo focuses on three key areas:

  • Trade Show: The exhibit hall floor showcases the breadth of the industry, with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services. Companies representing every facet of manufacturing and supplies are on board for 2012. Coatings, channel letters, printing machinery, lighting and dynamic digital systems are among the items that will be on display. Companies already committed to exhibit range from A.L.L. Innovations, based in Australia, to Florida-based Zuni Scrolling Signs. The industry’s largest firms, such as 3M, General Electric, Nova Polymers, and Roland DGA, are included as well. To see an updated list of exhibitors, visit http://www.signexpo.org/exhibitor-search
  • Education: Designed to address the broad spectrum of professional talents—from graphic design to sign installation—included in today’s sign industry, International Sign Expo offers the strongest educational offerings in the sign and visual communications industry. Packages are customizable and cover the following topics: Customer Service, Digital Electronic Signage, Digital Print Imaging, Electrical/Structural, Estimating/Project Management, Graphic Arts/Design, Hands-On/Demonstration, Legislative Management, Production/Fabrication, Sales/Marketing, Sustainability and Workplace Safety.
  • Networking: With the industry’s top professionals gathered in one place, it’s only natural that business relationships are formed and solidified. Networking happens in formal settings, such as the Global Sign Forum and the ISA/Southern States Sign Council Golf Tournament, and informally, such as events hosted by manufacturers.

In addition, the latest new products and environmentally friendly offerings will be recognized.

“International Sign Expo 2012 will offer hundreds of ideas of ways to grow a sign and visual communications business,” Anderson said. “With just a few days in Orlando, sign professionals will be better able to make educated purchasing decisions, to discover their next big ideas and make valuable connections with future business partners and peers.”

Registration for International Sign Expo 2012 is now open at www.signexpo.org. In the coming weeks, a schedule of events and links to make travel arrangements will be posted on the site as well.

ISA, YESCO TO SHARE IMPORTANCE OF SIGN INDUSTRY AS REP. DAVID SCHWEIKERT TOURS MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Print PDF

ALEXANDRIA, VA – October 5, 2011 – Arizona Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-05) is scheduled to tour the YESCO LLC Phoenix facility in Chandler from 1:30-2:30 PM PST on October 18th. The event is being coordinated by the International Sign Association, the on-premise sign industry’s leading trade association.

“We welcome any opportunity to demonstrate first-hand how our industry works to members of Congress,” said Lori Anderson, ISA’s President & CEO. “Rep. Schweikert will learn how sign companies help America’s small businesses market themselves and keep our economy strong.”

During its time in Phoenix, YESCO has created some of the city’s most prominent signs. Recently, the company served as sign consultants for the Legends Entertainment District, a coordinated sign effort that encompasses prominent locations such as the Arizona Diamondbacks Stadium and the US Airways Center. YESCO Phoenix has also manufactured many on-premise signs for small businesses in the 5th district, all over Arizona and throughout the southwest region.

“We are very excited to share the latest innovations in sign technology with Rep. Schweikert,” said Jake Winklepleck, YESCO’s vice president. “We are extremely proud of the products that our 92 hardworking employees—many of whom are his constituents—create in this outstanding manufacturing facility.”

As a family-owned business, YESCO is a true American success story.  Founded in 1920 with a $300 investment, the company operates nationwide and is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

ISA INTERNATIONAL SIGN EXPO 2011 COMPLETES ANOTHER OUTSTANDING EVENT

Print PDF

ALEXANDRIA, VA – April 30, 2011 – Business deals are in process, new projects envisioned. ISA International Sign Expo is the place where the sign industry gets things done and the just-completed 2011 event was no different.

In all, some 19,000attendees visited the Expo floor, which was the largest in several years with nearly 200,000 square feet filled with the latest innovations for the sign industry. Attendance at educational sessions was up significantly as well. The event ran April 27-30 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“Each year, ISA International Sign Expo proves to be the place for sign industry professionals to network, learn the latest information about their industry, and see the latest products on the exhibit floor,” said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. “This year proved to be all of that and more.”

The session opened with a stirring address by Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who told attendees about “Plywood Leadership.” Using the analogy of the material plywood, McChrystal discussed how team building brings together weaker materials. Under the right leader—the glue—the end result is stronger than the pieces alone. McChrystal interspersed his own leadership experiences with lessons from history.

With that, the expo hall doors were opened and attendees were able to see a number of new products as well as meet face-to-face with the companies with which they do business.

ISA International Sign Expo 2011 also included the hotly contested New Product Showcase and the Green Product Showcase, which made its debut in 2010. Exhibitors were given three minutes to present a new or environmentally friendly product and attendees voted on the most exciting in each category.

The international aspect of Sign Expo 2011 was in full force as well. As in years past, about 20 percent of attendees were from outside of the United States, showcasing the thriving global marketplace for signs and sign manufacturers. The Global Sign Forum offers an opportunity for international attendees to network and discuss issues and trends occurring in their countries. As it has for the past five years, the Global Sign Forum was a sell-out.

Educational events have continued to expand dramatically. ISA and the International Sign Academy offered nearly 70 courses. In addition, the mobile crane operator safety certification training—designed to prepare sign company employees for coming OSHA mandates—was held onsite as well. Throughout 2011, ISA will be holding additional mobile crane operator safety certification training courses throughout the United States.

“Keeping sign industry professionals informed on the latest information that helps them manage their businesses better is a vital role that ISA plays,” Anderson said. “While ISA International Sign Expo offers the best opportunity to have everyone in one place for educational events, we continue to educate and train the sign industry throughout the year in webinars, in-person events, and through our registered provider program.”

ISA International Sign Expo 2012 is set forMarch 21-24 in Orlando. Check www.signexpo.org for details in the coming months.
